Smells Like a Wet Dog

All photos taken on February 3, 2022.

Hey, Benji here. They’re back again and they want to take me out in the rain. This better be good or I am really gonna get peeved. I mean, nobody likes the smell of wet dog, not even me and I am a dog.

My Grans get me outside and I can see I’m not gonna like this already. I mean, look at all those water drops. Where is my umbrella? What, you did not bring one for me? How inconsiderate!

Oh, wait, we are going to the beach and there are treats. Why didn’t you say this at the start?

Please, please, please take me home. I’m not a fan of the wet dog smell.
Please vote for who you think is panting more, me or my hoomin.
so you threw a stick for me to fetch….I ain’t goin’ after it. You go fetch!
I am going to ask nicely once again and then I am going to start whining.
Hey Mr. Elderly Hoomin. Why don’t you join me up on these slippery rocks. I promise I won’t push you down. Heh Heh Heh.

Fur Gran, why are you stopping to look at these things. Even I know there is nothing to sniff here.

Now, see that crow on that pole? THAT is interesting. Take me closer so I can bark at him.
See, everybody else gets to be protected from the rain. Why not me?
Oh, sure, now we are going to go back, because you want to. Lets go then.

Not much to tell. After working for 3 companies over 43+ years (38 years 7 months with my last company), I finally got that promotion I had waited my entire career for……retirement. I have been exploring this new career for the past 7+ years and while it is not always exciting, the chance to do what I want for myself and my family instead of what my company wants has been very fulfilling. Early on, there was a long list of projects in my β€œto-do” hopper and I attacked these projects with a vengeance for the first 9 months of retirement. Eventually, my brain told me that this was not what retirement was about, so it took me another 5 months before my industriousness again took over and I attacked another line of projects, this time somewhat shorter and less complicated, as well as many new projects related to the family weddings in 2016. After going hard for 6 weeks and 3 weddings, my body was telling me to relax, then the flu bug hit and as soon as that was done with me, my sciatic acted up. No rest for the wicked. In 2020 and 2021, the Covid 19 pandemic changed the whole retirement gig. I was lucky to not be still working, for sure. I enjoy photography, gardening, working with my hands, walking, cycling, skiing, travelling, reading and creating special photo and video productions obtained in my first pastime. I may never become wealthy in any of these pursuits, but I already feel I am rich in life experiences far beyond any expectation.

  1. Always good to see you here, Benji! Don’t tell Allan, but you’re the cutest family member, and even more adorable in your little clothes! But they were totally mean by not getting you an umbrella! πŸ˜€

    1. You are arf-ully nice to say that. I am used to being the cute one and don’t worry, my Grans both know I am the cute one. I gave them the side eye and they knew they should have brough a brolly for me. They’ll think twice next time. Thanks for coming along for walkies. πŸΆπŸ•πŸ•β€πŸ¦Ί

    1. Thanks Joni. We are Benji’s fur Gran parents. He lives with our son and daughter in Vancouver, so we like our Benji time when we visit. Thanks for reading and your kind words. Hugs to you both. Allan πŸ€—πŸ€—

    1. Well, Lynette, I did not want to get my tail in a tizzy, but I would have been yappy to have em-barked on this journey with a brolly. Thanks for your support. 🐢🐢

  2. Looking at all these west coast photos can be depressing. I’m not filthy rich so I can’t live there unless I can convince someone from Vancouver that I’m a cute little dog 🐢 and they should adopt me. That doesn’t work either because then I would have to eat dog food rather than being a foodie and touring the cafΓ© scene.

    1. I have come to the conclusion that there are those who live in Vancouver and those who wish they lived in Vancouver. We are the latter through circumstance and that is OK. I am happy being able to visit from time to time. Things are expensive enough here, as it is. Thanks for reading Glen. Allan
