What better way to end the perfect day than with S’mores on the back deck and then a walk down to the inlet to watch the sun set. After all, we had brought the roasting sticks from home, we had marshmallows, chocolate and biscuits left and a back deck fire ring.
S’mores and Sunset ©
A perfect day deserves a perfect end,
we’d hiked our butts off right round ev’ry bend.
We saw lots of stuff and took in great views,
we’d made fine memories, more than a few.
We’d hiked on trails where we’d no right to be
and survived it all, despite failing knees.
In this Salty Dog cottage, so sublime.
time spent with family is precious time.
Dessert over, sunset beyond our door,
one more question, please can we do it s’more?
At least this time, I only burnt my marshmallow a little.
We had told B & K how perfect the sandy beach area down near the marina was, so after consuming our S’mores, we all went for a walk to see the sunset.
Along the way, we spotted this blooming shrub in a parking lot.

The sun, so absent yesterday was shining brightly, making up for lost time.
We tried walking along the sandy beach, but the local residents were all out with their unleashed dogs and Benji was having none of it.
So, back near the entrance to the beach, we found the perfect little beach alcove with only one access point and the most spectacular views. We were all happy there and sat down to await the sunset.
Heaven’s rays seemed to be shining down from above as Benji happily frolicked on sand and in water and we let him do his thing.
We were protected by this giant wall of rock

Nobody could sneak up on us from this side

K was looking at the photos of Benji she had taken. There truly was NO cell service in Port Renfrew

The beauty was startling at every turn
B & K went back to the cottage to get Benji washed up, but Patty and I stayed for the rest of the show. The sunlit clouds were stunning both in the sky and reflected in the puddles.

What a perfect day

Agreed! I don’t really like marshmallows, but I loved the photos that helped transport us to the beach with you (and Benji 🙂 )

Not really much of a MM fan either, but if you add chocolate and graham crackers, I am in, a couple of times a year. The beach and sunsets were a god way to end the day. Thanks for reading. Allan
